Has it really come to this?

In short the answer is yes, yes it has!

As you know (from my last blog), I’m doing this body detox diet. This is going to leave me feeling and looking like I’m 25 again. I can feel it in my newly healthy bones.

I didn’t really go into any detail of what this diet entails last time, so here’s some of the good stuff.

Before each meal I must drink a potion of organic sugarless cranberry juice, mixed with apple cider vinegar, fresh lemon juice and water. It’s pretty sour. Also vinegar isn’t always the most pleasant thing to consume straight after the minty fresh taste of toothpaste in the morning. However, although not my favourite part of this diet it seems to be working wonders for cleansing my body. So I’ll shut up about the drink and just knock the thing back.

Now the other thing about the diet is.. no sugar, flour, bread, rice, pasta, potatoes or chocolate (unless raw chocolate). Everything that I love about carbs are listed in the NO pile. Grrrrr!

Here comes the best bit about having an awesome superstar baking goddess for a wife… She made me these…

Seriously..she made me chocolate brownies! 😀

These brownies have no flour and no sugar yet taste like heaven!! How you ask..the secret is black beans. These bad boys are actually healthy, even though they taste sinfully good.

A must try for bakers and brownie fans alike.

So yes it has come to this, when your body is craving sugar so bad…black beans save the day. Who knew?!

The score so far;

Vegetables: 1

Me: still lost 4.85lbs, so screw your score vegetables 😊

1 1/4 cups sugar-free chocolate chips or (carob chips or grain sweetened chocolate chips)
1 (15.5 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1/4 cup carob powder or cocoa powder, unsweetened
      2 eggs
1/3 cup olive oil or coconut oil, melted
      1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
      2 teaspoons vanilla extract
      1/4 teaspoon salt
      1/2 teaspoon baking powder
      1 teaspoon instant coffee
      1 tablespoon powdered stevia

      Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line an 8 by 8 baking dish with parchment paper.
Spray parchment paper with nonstick cooking spray.
Process all ingredients in a food processor until smooth.
Pour onto parchment paper in baking dish and smooth out batter to edges of dish.
Bake 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out perfectly clean.
Mine were perfect at 35 minutes.
Cool on wire wrack for 10 minutes then remove by holding edges of parchment paper and lifting out.
Transfer onto a wire rack to cool before slicing on a cutting board.

      Bon appetit! x
